Thank you for visiting our website to learn more about our exciting proposals for Longridge Sports Village.
The proposals are led by Steel Work Construction Limited (SWC), with support from Community Gateway Association (CGA) and other local partners. We are driven by two goals: equal access to sport and homes for all.
We care deeply about Longridge and have supported local clubs like Longridge Town Juniors FC, Longridge Town Football Club, and Longridge Cricket Club for many years. With that same commitment, we want to build a high-quality, community-led development that leaves a positive and lasting impact on the town.
The Sports Village will give people of all ages and abilities the chance to stay active and healthy, with greater opportunities for participation.
We also know there’s a real need for affordable housing in Longridge. That’s why this development will include up to 250 new homes, all 100% affordable. These homes will suit first-time buyers, families, and people looking to downsize, helping residents stay in the community they love.
Please explore this website to learn more about our plans and share your thoughts.
We want to hear from you. Your views will help shape this scheme to make sure it truly benefits the whole community.
By sharing your feedback, you can make sure the sports facilities and new homes become a real asset for the neighbourhood.
All of your comments will be carefully reviewed and included in a Statement of Community Involvement, which forms part of the planning process to Preston City Council.
The site for Longridge Sports Village is located just north-west of the town, close to the existing community and easily accessed via Chipping Lane and Inglewhite Road. Its location makes it a natural extension of Longridge, with everything within walking distance.
From our work in the area, we know there’s a need for better sports facilities and more affordable housing in Longridge. We want to help by offering a wider choice of sports activities and homes that suit different needs and lifestyles.
Our aim is to create a sustainable new neighbourhood with both affordable housing and a modern sports hub at its heart.
The sports plans include:
We know how important natural outdoor space is for communities. That’s why much of the land to the south will remain as green space for everyone to enjoy.
Alongside this, we will be working closely with Preston City Council, Community Gateway Association, and listening to your ideas to make sure the homes we deliver truly reflect the needs of the local community.
Up to 250 much-needed homes being 100% affordable, with a mix of tenures to suit the range of needs of the local community.
The sports village will significantly enhance the sports provision in Longridge providing padel courts, new football pitches, improved gymnastics facilities, indoor cricket nets and a park run. This will transform Longridge into a hub of sporting excellence, creating a lasting legacy and opportunity for all.
The village includes a large number of green spaces, with accessible walking routes for the community to enjoy and a new park run.
Community Gateway Association, with their strong track record in managing social housing, will be responsible for managing the new homes in this development.
Creating local jobs both during construction and after completion, benefiting Longridge’s economy and businesses.

Steel Work Construction Limited (SWC)
With over 20 years of experience, SWC is proud to be one of the UK’s leading suppliers of steel erection, on-site fabrication, welding, and crane and plant hire services. Based just outside Preston, Lancashire – and with strong local ties to Longridge through our industrial steel estate in the town – we combine national capability with genuine community pride.
This proposal is being brought forward and is spearheaded by our owner, a Longridge resident, who has always been an active supporter of the community, particularly local sports clubs. His passion for Longridge underpins his commitment to helping deliver a community-led development that will create a lasting legacy for the town.
We employ a large, skilled workforce and regularly collaborate with principal contractors, main contractors, and other trades across a wide variety of projects. From small-scale units to contracts involving thousands of tonnes of steel, we are committed to upholding high standards to deliver developments that all communities can be proud of.
Community Gateway Association (CGA)
CGA is a not-for-profit community-based housing association, set up on 28th November 2005 after tenants voted for a transfer of properties from Preston City Council, to meet the housing needs of people in Preston and the surrounding area.
Our journey has been a real success story, and we are proud to have delivered on our transfer promises. Listening to the views of customers, we brought our Property Care team in-house in 2013, making improvements to how we deliver our repairs and maintenance service, as well as offering better value for money. A year later, we did the same with our Grounds Maintenance service to help us make improvements to our local green spaces.
We were the first housing association to be based on the Gateway Model, meaning we put tenants at the heart of all we do and involve them in decisions which affect them, their homes and communities. We are tenant-led, community-focused and pride ourselves on delivering high-quality services.
We have over 6900 properties – including houses, flats, our homeless prevention scheme, sheltered living accommodation and extra-care schemes.
